China Impressions: Food and Dinners
Back

Food and Dinners in Beijing: Here are some pictures on food or dinners that I had in Beijing, as well as pictures of parties or entertainment

I love eating out in China. And I love Chinese food.

It is easy to get food almost any hour of the day. Some restaurants do 24 hour service. There is a huge variety of food from all different kinds of provinces. This is different from the standard Chinese food you might get in a restaurant in Europe. Here in China you get the real thing and it is delicious.

Foreign food is also available in Beijing. There are nice Korean restaurants, some of the Japanese restaurants are not too expensive, there are nice Thai and Indian places and of course you can also get all kinds of Western food, sometimes translated as "Westfood".

The Western food is often more expensive than the Chinese food, but some Western restaurants offer business lunch specials at reasonable prices. The Chinese food used to be really cheap. Nowadays the fancy places are really expensive and also the small neigbourhood restaurants increased their prices. Lamb skewers are now at least 1RMB, often already 2RMB. We used to buy them at 0.5RMB. The amount of meat they put on those so called "Yang Rou Chuanr" is getting less and less. Now many restaurants only put two tiny pieces of meat with a huge chunk of fat in between.
